1. Peppermint Essential Oil
Mice have a stronger sense of smell than people. For instance, the smell of peppermint is refreshing for people but is unpleasant for mice. You will need cotton balls and essential oil for this repellent.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add 20-30 drops of peppermint essential oil to each cotton ball and put the balls somewhere in your home. Change the cotton balls once a week or whenever you notice the smell is fading.
2. Mouse Deterrent Spray
This spray doesn’t involve any manufactured chemicals or toxins, but you should wear goggles and gloves when you apply it because it is made from hot peppers. This spray contains habanero peppers, which rate at 100,000-350,000 units, and cayenne peppers, which have a scoville rating of 30,000-50,000 units.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup chopped habaneros
- 2 tablespoons of hot pepper flakes
- 1 gallon of fresh water
- Two 2 gallon buckets
- A gallon jug and a spray bottle
- Cheesecloth
- Gloves/goggles
- A large pot
INSTRUCTIONS:
Boil the water in a large pot. Then put the peppers and flakes in a food processor and blend them well. Put the pepper blend into a 2-gallon bucket and pour the boiled water over them. Cover the mixture and allow it to sit for 24 hours. Strain the mixture through cheesecloth by pouring it into another 2-gallon bucket. Fill your spray bottle and spray around entrances. If you want to use the mixture inside the house, it is recommended to do that every second day. Do not apply the mixture on carpets.
3. Dryer Sheets
You will need regular old dryer sheets.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the dryer sheets around the problematic area. Replace them when the scent is faded.
4. Bring Out the Copper
You will need 1 roll of copper wire mesh/copper steel
INSTRUCTIONS:
Roll up the copper into thin wads and stuff firmly into cracks/holes/any entrances that are used by the mice. You can also spray with a little bit of hot pepper.
5. Cloves
You will need clove essential oil and cotton balls.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add 20-30 drops of clove essential oil to each cotton ball and place the balls around your home. Change the cotton balls once a week or whenever you notice the smell is fading.
