This ancient remedy, that is, homemade syrup, is easy for preparation and safe for both children and adults. Let’s take a look at the recipe now:
1. 250 ml of water
2. ¼ cup of grated or dried ginger root
3. ¼ cup of marshmallow root
4. ¼ cup of chamomile flowers
5. A tbsp of cinnamon
6. A cup of honey
7. ¼ cup of lemon juice
Preparation:
Put the water in a saucepan and add the dried herbs and bring the saucepan to boil. Lower the heat so that the mixture simmers and remove it from the heat once the liquid evaporates. Next, strain the content through a cloth or mesh strainer and while the liquid is still warm, add the lemon juice and honey and stir well. Transfer the mixture in a closed container and you can store it in the fridge up to 2 months.
Use: Take 1 spoon three times per day. For children, the dose is one tsp per day.
Additional tip: If you suffer from dry cough, add a tsp of dried mint leaves to the syrup.
