This plant is widely used and distributed in every single part of the world. Even though it is underestimated and regarded as simple weed, the dandelion provides a whole range of health benefits and healing properties. Both root and leaves can be used for medicinal purposes. The dandelion root is high in mineral content, including silica, potassium, chlorophyll, magnesium, sulphur, and iron. Moreover, it contains mucilage and inulin, compounds that cleanse the liver, enhance the function of digestive system, promote better absorption of toxins from foods, etc.  When it comes to its leaves, they are rich in both minerals and vitamins, such as vitamin E, A, K, B and B6.

Even though these facts are not new, many recent studies confirmed them and have shown even new more interesting facts about the dandelion root.

According to a recent research, dandelion root have killed up to 98 percent of the leukemia cells in laboratory tests, after only 48 hours.

As explained by Dr Carolyn Hamm from the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre in Ontario, Canada, the extract from dandelion root is the only thing that can truly help with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. There is the case of a patient named John Di Carlo who underwent and aggressive, but unfortunately unsuccessful treatment for his leukemia. The doctors didn’t have any other option remaining, and Di Carlo was sent home to spend his last days with his family members.  However, he turned to alternative medicine and started to consume the tea from dandelion root. Unbelievably, after only four months of treatment, he experienced a remission.  Both he and his doctors link his success to the consumption of dandelion tea.  Moreover, even Maria Treben, a well-known herbalist recommends the dandelion root tea for many diseases, including several types of cancer.

Many studies have shown that dandelion root extract acts very fast on the cancer cells, making them disintegrate within 48 hours. The best part about it is that it doesn’t affect the healthy cells which are being formed in the meantime.

Further studies show that this extract has a powerful effect on against leukemia, liver cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer. However, it doesn’t provide any significant effects on brain and skin cancer.

As the immune system is the one that controls cancerous cells in the body, if it is healthy the likelihood of cancer cells is very little.  On the other hand, if the immune system is weak, the production of cancer cells goes out of its control and new cells appear. The dandelion root powder has powerful phytochemical which builds up the immune system and the blood. Even though doctor recommends treating cancer with radiation and chemotherapy, they are not the best option available, as they destroy the appetite and the immune system.  After all, these two things are crucial in beating cancer.

How to Pick the Dandelion Root?

Dandelion root can be harvested at any time of the year. All you need to do is to pull it off the ground, cut the leaves and remove the soil around the root. Don’t wash it and make sure you don’t damage it. Then, dry it on sunlight on around 100 degrees, or simply use an incubator without water. This procedure will take you about 5-6 days.  It is ready for use when the root snaps while breaking it. Store the roots in a glass jar on a dark and cold place. Dried dandelion root keeps its active chemicals up to a year.

The best way of using the dandelion root is in the form of powder. It is recommended to take ½ teaspoon of the powder on daily basis mixed with water. Don’t use it in anything hot or in soft drinks! You will start feeling better after 3-4 days. It usually takes about three weeks for the remedy to build up the immune system.  After this time, the immune system takes control over the cancerous cells and stops their spreading. This is not an overnight cure and you shouldn’t expect a miracle to happen. After all, it is normal for this type of cure to take some time in order to completely remove the cancer.
